I could emulate the same workflow with Notability's Mac app and my iPad, but then I miss out on being able to work like this on Windows. OneNote, if it works, is not very accurate and only shows the page the term appeared on (not all instances).ĭoes anyone have any tips? I like the power of OneNote and all its extra features, but if it can't even get the basics right then I might have to abandon ship. I care that it's just about perfect and shows all instances of the searched term in results. I don't necessarily care that their search is instant. So I'm almost tempted to switch back to a Mac. But at least all the features I need work. The shitty thing about Notability is their desktop app is Mac only. I have the Udemy video playing on the desktop, clip into OneNote on my desktop, it's there on my iPad/Surface within a second or two, and then I write on the tablet. What I'll do is have my iPad or Surface Book screen beside me while sitting at my desktop. I can't have that type of volatility as I rely on using the desktop app to screen clip. I can't use GoodNotes because they decided to remove their desktop app when launching the updated iOS app. I was testing out Notability and GoodNotes last night. And if it does find something, I don't think it shows all instances of that word on the page? But even writing on my Surface Book it's same result. I've given this note 12 hours and it still isn't searchable. However, handwriting search seems to be very hit or miss. For me, a page in OneNote is essentially one lesson in a section of a Udemy course. I like to screen clip the slide, paste in OneNote, then write on the side any relevant things that were said.

Most Udemy courses are slides with people talking over them. I'm not in University any more and really just want to take notes for online courses I do. I love being able to access notes on all platforms.
